Fine and Performing Arts Mission Statement

NBPS offers a vibrant fine arts education that fosters curiosity in, and sensitivity to, the world which surrounds us. We strive to prepare our fine and performing artists to be creative critical thinkers, through outstanding, sequential learning opportunities from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The students are trained to become producers and then masters of their art forms, and thereby become sources of knowledge, inspiration and motivation for others in the community. We encourage exploration of values, attitudes, self discipline and standards through exploration of arts. The exposure of our students to a broad range of concepts; focusing on the natural human need for creative expression in response to moral, historical, philosophical and psychological issues is vital for creating not only critical understating of human kind but also themselves. Our program enables our students to appreciate the ways the fine and performing arts manifests knowledge on multiple levels and prepares them to advance as independent thinkers, capable of viewing their world in new and insightful ways, and ready to begin exploring careers in the arts.

We work to create an interdisciplinary, intercultural and creative community which is acutely aware of the need to give back. The fine and performing arts student is guided to enrich the varied communities served by the fine arts by stimulating the cultural climate, providing quality opportunities to display talent, fulfill charitable needs and above all positively influence the lives of others through sharing their time and talents.

The Fine Arts Department offers courses in Music, Media, Art, Dance, and Drama.
