Guidance
The NBPS Guidance Department is designed to provide the best nurturing environment for each student. The program’s goal is to support the needs of all students. The needs may include student advocacy, personal advisement, family involvement, academic advisement, faculty input, career consulting and involvement in community resources. To meet these needs, the guidance program is structured to provide consultation and collaboration with students, teachers, administrators and parents to implement strategies to help students be successful at North Broward.
As a consultant to teachers, the counselor is there to provide teachers with a point of contact for student concerns and to provide additional professional support. The professional guidance counselor also collaborates and consults with parents and students regarding academic course counseling, school related problems and social/ emotional issues and acts as a resource for referrals and special programs. The guidance counselor assists students in developing their curricular program for present and future academic years. The guidance department also, conducts programs relating to student growth and adjustment such as drug and alcohol education, career guidance and informed decision making.
