Athletics
The school’s athletic program provides a variety of individual- and team-sport opportunities for all students in grades 6 through 12. With more than 500 students participating on nearly 60 interscholastic teams, over one-third of the student population is involved in athletics. Currently, there are 19 different sports programs in the athletic department. These activities are an integral part of the school’s mission to provide an education that helps each student achieve his or her fullest measure of personal growth.
The athletic program embraces the true, scholar-athlete ideal, valuing the importance of competition while balancing it against the pursuit of excellence in the classroom. The sports programs feature excellent coaching, competitive schedules, ongoing upgrades to first-class facilities, and high expectations for success. The school is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) which promotes, directs, supervises, and regulates all interscholastic high school athletic events in the State of Florida. The athletic program strives to meet all regulations and guidelines set forth by the FHSAA, including, but not limited to, the requirement that as long as a high school student maintains a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average, he or she will be academically eligible for participation. Middle school students must be promoted each year to the next grade level in order to remain eligible.
