Headmaster's Welcome
It is my pleasure to introduce you to our community at The North Broward Preparatory Schools. NBPS offers high-quality academic programs at all levels and provides its students with solid and comprehensive preparation for college. Our broad curriculum includes 24 college-level Advanced Placement courses, and for entering ninth graders, we expect to offer an International Baccalaureate diploma program. We also have specialized classes for students with learning differences in our Lighthouse Point Academy. College placement services begin as early as Middle School. Many matriculate at the most selective universities, including Columbia, Duke, Harvard, Northwestern, MIT, Notre Dame, Princeton and Stanford. At NBPS we know our students. We care deeply about their personal development, and we provide character education and leadership training in all grades. At the center of our communal life are the School’s Honor Code and its innovative honor court and honor advocate system. Our 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio makes it easy for students to get to know their teachers. The talented and friendly teachers at NBPS are carefully selected, often hold advanced degrees, and value their relationships with students. All members of our community work hard to do their best and to bring out the best in one another.
We balance our rigorous academic offerings with a wide array of extracurricular activities, including an award-winning fine arts program, nearly 60 athletic teams in 30 different sports, and dozens of student clubs and organizations. Together, these opportunities exemplify the “whole-child-approach” that is a hallmark of Meritas International schools.
Since joining Meritas, a global family of unique and distinctive college preparatory schools, our students and teachers have gained access to resources and opportunities rarely available in other schools. These opportunities include international travel and internships, video-conferencing with students and teachers around the world, student and teacher exchange programs, international sports and fine arts jamborees, and an international interim term. We want all our graduates to speak a second language confidently and to be, like Socrates, citizens of the world.
If you have any questions about our school, please contact me personally at Marcyt@nbps.org, or call Jackie Fagan in our Admissions office at 954-247-0011 x350. You will find a warm welcome here.
Respectfully yours,
Dr. Tom Marcy
